Our Projects

Launched in the summer of 2026, we offer our Town and Village residents a bundle of reuse strategies: recycle food waste, bicycles, paint, and reuse/repair your broken items for free. 

In partnership with nationally renown Green-Sheen, we are offering a free used paint recycling drop- off event for residents at Parkdale Elementary School in October. 

The Village of East Aurora hosted 3 community events with built environ-ment expert, Dan Burden, who has helped hundreds of communities make their streets safer and more walkable. ​

This report provides recommendations for municipal sites suitable for electrification of fleet vehicles, assesses charging needs, and provides a cost assessment. 

A $486K Grant! This award from  NYS's DEC will fund the replacement of the Town's small and outdated Salt Barn. This will prevent salt pollution from leaching into Cazenovia Creek. 

A garden & farm tool donation event for Providence Farm - a farming community for under-resourced refugees, immigrants, Indigenous, and people of color in WNY.   

Introducing an interactive board game from the University of Buffalo's Regional Institute- an interactive game to help build understanding about local climate challenges and solutions. 

Don't ditch it...  fix it!  

Bring your broken items (lamps, small electronics, vacuums, toys, etc.) to the repair cafe and have volunteer “fixers” try to repair the item alongside you for free! Back for 2026!

Our Bronze status allowed our Town's Highway Department  to receive  funds from the NYS DEC  to purchase an EV pickup truck & EV Charging Station to eco-modernize their fleet. 

LEDs light the way for energy-efficient solutions in the Town of Aurora. We've reduced energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and provided cost savings for our community.

To ensure a green future, our Town Board has allocated funds to develop a new comprehensive plan. We've received  an Erie County Smart Growth Community Planning Grant for this purpose.

Imagine a roadway designed for safety, access, and mobility for everyone- including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

The Town of Aurora has instituted a new rapid emergency and general notification service called CodeRED as a proactive tool to keep our residents informed in emergency situations.

A Greenhouse Gas  Inventory for government operations is an important first step to establish a baseline, and enable our town to track its progress toward reducing energy use. 

A renewable energy program for residents without having to install solar panels on roofs!

Aurora Solar Savings reduces town  enrollee's utility bills - all while  supporting clean energy. 

Recycled food scraps  are "black gold" for your landscape and gardens. Rotting food scraps in our landfills release methane. Compost instead! Our Springtime Composter sale returns in April 2026!

In addition to 2 stations located at the Municipal building, our Town is working diligently to

install four new charging stations for electric vehicles throughout the town including West Falls. 

$4.5 million just awarded for the revitalization of West Falls! The funds will help create an active downtown dedicated to past heritage & a future as a recreational, cultural, and arts center. 

The Town of Aurora has passed a resolution in support of the ECRT Rail Trail. 3 miles of this trail passes through West Falls, & will provide a car-free path for walking, biking, jogging, & more. 

A celebration of  Earth Day and Springtime! The ultimate free- cycle for getting your yard and garden into shape by trading gently used garden tools with  your neighbors
